The Hair & Beauty program prepares students for work as an apprentice beauty therapist, hairdresser, barber, stylist, makeup artist, beautician, retail beauty consultant, or beauty salon assistant.
Students undertake either a Certificate II in Salon Assistant or a Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics.
On completion of Certificate II studies, students looking to further their study in these areas can undertake a Certificate III in Beauty Services (partial).
Employment outcomes are to gain an apprenticeship in hairdressing, a traineeship in beauty therapy, or work in a pathway the hair beauty industry can take you. There are a various pathway options, from special event styling to fashion, and management to business ownership. Possible career pathways include:

SALON ASSISTANT (SHB20216)
Begin your journey as a hairdresser where you will learn about interacting with clients and providing hairdressing services, combined with developing skills to become an integral part of a highly creative team.
Employment outcomes are to gain an apprenticeship in hairdressing, continue studying the Certificate III in Hairdressing, or work as a salon assistant in the retail or beauty industry.
TAFE SA (RTO Code 41026) is responsible for the quality of accredited training and assessment provided and for the issuing of all qualifications and statements of attainment for this course.

RETAIL COSMETICS (SHB20121)
This is the ideal qualification to start your career in the make-up or beauty industry. You will learn a range of skills to provide make-up for varying occasions, client care, sell and recommend beauty products to an industry standard.
This qualification reflects the role of individuals employed in retail beauty to provide a range of services including make-up, preparing clients for salon services, skin care and beauty knowledge.
