Students Gain Real World Experience.

At St Patrick’s Technical College, we understand that gaining real-world experience is vital to preparing students for successful careers in trades and technology. That’s why we offer our students the opportunity to participate in a minimum of 7 weeks of work experience throughout the year, where they can apply their skills in practical environments, build industry connections, and gain a deeper understanding of their chosen fields.

In his first block of work experience, Year 10 student Harry took on a placement at a local mechanical workshop, Angle Vale Mechanical, bringing enthusiasm and a strong work ethic to the team. This hands-on experience allowed Harry to immerse himself in the automotive industry, gaining valuable insight into the field while exploring potential career pathways in automotive repair and maintenance.

What makes Harry’s journey even more special is that he’s part of a proud College family! His two older brothers, are both School Based Apprentices, gaining real-world experience in their chosen trades:

  • Oscar – Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication with Gant and Sons
  • Charles – Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying with MTE (hosted by Prime Brick and Block)

Another highlight was Year 10 student BJ’s work experience at ANFF-SA’s state-of-the-art micro and nanofabrication facility at Mawson Lakes. BJ had the opportunity to explore advanced 3D printing technologies, work in precision engineering, and experience cleanroom environments, all while learning from industry experts. This experience opened doors for BJ to discover innovative technologies and gain insights into high-tech industries.

These real-world experiences are an essential part of the College’s journey, helping our students build the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed in their careers. We’re proud to offer these opportunities to our students, ensuring they are well-equipped for the workforce.
