Five of our students recently undertook Work Experience with BAE Systems Australia at the Osborne Naval Shipyard. It was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 10 & 11 students to see the shipyard up close, be guided by experienced tradespeople, and immerse themselves in hands-on trade-based activities.
Using a variety of hand tools, students completed a small sheet metal toolbox and pencil case projects to take home.
“I enjoyed building the pencil case and being around the tradespeople and apprentices. Seeing two ships in the water that were made there was really interesting.” – Damon Enthoven, Year 11 Metals student

“I would definitely consider working for BAE Systems and I am in the process of applying for a Fabrication apprenticeship for 2025. The work experience helped me to decide that I want a career there.” – Adam Pruszinski, Year 11 Metals student
“I did WEX there last year and it was really good to go back and see it all again. It’s a very good place to work and they take care of their employees. I have applied for a Mechanical Fitter, Pipe Fitting, and Fabrication apprenticeship for 2025.” – Damon Enthoven, Year 11 Metals student
