The Subs in Schools competition concluded the 2020 school year with some great results for St Patrick’s Technical College. Competing in both state and national competitions at St Peter’s College, our Information Technology (IT) students submerged, manoeuvred, and completed tasks with their Remote Operated Vehicles, coming away with a few top gongs! Congratulations to the Special Response Team, winning the Innovation Award, Best Sea Trial and placing 3rd overall. Special mention to Orca Inc. team placing 4th overall.

Due to COVID and several restrictions, students competing in state comps were automatically entered into the national competition. Overall, the Special Response Team finished 9th and Orca Inc. in 12th position.

Congratulations to the #StPatsTech teams on your outstanding performance and thank you to Saab Australia engineering mentors, Daniel Pace and Jared Bouchier, for your ongoing support through the P-Tech Australia (Pathways in Technology) program

As part of the P-TECH program, mentoring with key industry partners provides an education-industry collaboration and industry-supported pathways for students to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The Saab Australia engineers assist our students in understanding the complexities of underwater design, electronics, and mathematics. The world’s first in-class submarine design competition provides students with the opportunity to collaborate with industry and to foster their STEM learning.
