Making A Difference

2024 Winter Warmers_Hero
This winter, students across the College have been involved in planning, coordinating, and delivering support to assist with the important work of Vinnies Australia.

Our Winter Warmers initiative has been driven by our amazing students, taking seriously one of the College’s core values – Service, and showing that acts of kindness go a long way. At some stage in their school journey, students of the College will be involved in a project or activity to help people in the local community.

Our Year 11 students participated in a social justice activity as part of their Integrated Learning: Skills For Life subject, undertaking research to understand the important work of the St Vincent de Paul Society and the Winter Appeal.

Students organised donations, either from home or newly purchased, to prepare donation bags for Vinnies to distribute items to people and families who are experiencing difficulties. After speaking with Sean from Elizabeth Vinnies, students were informed of the pressing need for pantry items, hygiene products, blankets and sleeping bags.

The Community Connections: Health and Wellbeing subject has provided an opportunity for our Year 12 students and SBATs to be on the tools in the kitchen, cooking nutritious meals for members of our local community. These dishes have been prepared as individual meals, labelled, and delivered to our local Vinnies.

Thank you to our students, families, and staff for your support of our Winter Warmers initiative, and in particular Mr Peter Terminello – Community, Spirituality and Identity Leader of Learning, who has been instrumental in making a difference within our community.
