As an annual tradition College staff engage in an Industry Day, to step outside the classroom and learn more about local industry and career opportunities for our students. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect, network, see manufacturing and innovation, and also visit some of our past and present students in the workforce.
This year, staff visited Lionsgate Business Park, the former Holden site in Elizabeth South. This site holds plenty of history, as Holden’s main Australian manufacturing plant from the early 1960s through to 2017. Now owned by the Pelligra Group, it has been transformed into an industrial and commercial business hub with a mix of industrial, construction, logistics and e-commerce businesses.
College staff had the opportunity to visit several businesses and gain some insight into their manufacturing, services, and career opportunities available for our students. It was fantastic to see current students and Old Scholars on the tools and hear about their successful career journeys.
A BIG ‘thank you’ to our hosts and businesses for being so accommodating – Pelligra Group, Stairlock, Epicurean Food Group, Levett Engineering, sonnen, Genis Steel – and Grand Central (Central District Football Club) for an awesome lunch.
