St Patrick’s Day Celebrations

2024 St Patricks Day_Hero
The College turned green to celebrate our favourite day of the year, St Patrick’s Day. Honouring our patron saint, we welcomed guests to the College for the annual festivities and to enjoy traditional green donuts with staff and students!

Special guest Archbishop Patrick O’Regan was accompanied by Dr Neil McGoran – Executive Director of Catholic Education South Australia, and John Neate – Chair of the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools and former teacher at the College. Mayor Glenn DochertyCity of Playford and Jared Archer – Old Scholar, were in attendance and happily participated in a friendly carpentry competition alongside our Catholic companions.

Old scholar Jared Archer is the managing director of Archer Heavy Equipment Repairs Pty Ltd, a local business leading the way in converting diesel trucks to full battery electric. Invited to speak with our students, Jared provided three valuable pieces of advice:

“𝐁𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 – let your interests guide you. Pursue them with passion and don’t be afraid to explore new avenues. The path might not be clear now, but every step is a learning opportunity.”

“𝐁𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 – you are going to face setbacks, embrace them. Each one is a lesson to build strength, character, and skill, and makes you find out who you really are.”

“𝐁𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 – value the skills you learn here (at the College). These are the tools that will help you carve your path, your career, your trades… and that will lead you in confidence to make sure you are moving forward in your career.”

We were also blessed to have Archbishop Patrick preside over our Year 10 liturgy where students heard the story of Saint Patrick – his journey, perseverance, and love of God.

Thank you to all our guests and to our College staff for making St Patrick’s Day a wonderful celebration.
