A recent industry visit to Stevens Group provided an awesome opportunity for our students to experience one of the fastest growing companies in its field and leaders in structural steel and 1st fix carpentry.
Year 11 Metals & Engineering students, and students across other year levels interested in fabrication and construction, enjoyed touring the facilities in Direk and hearing the “Stevens Story”. Students gained insight into every aspect of the company’s in-house operation, from estimating and drafting, to steel installation, and were in awe of the size and scale of the premises and capabilities.
Student industry visits are key in providing exposure to real-world operations, to various industries, career pathways, and job opportunities. It also allows our staff experiences to remain relevant to trades, to be informed about industry trends, and gain a deeper understanding of various trades, expectations, and career opportunities for our students.
The College is proud to have a strong partnership with Stevens Group, with the ongoing support and mentorship through our extensive Work Experience program (WEX) and employment of our students. We have three apprentices employed with the company and it was fantastic to see them on the day in action.
